This is a very simple table centre that was used on a square table of 10 male diners. A fussy flower arrangement wouldn't have been right. The best bit you don't have to be a florist!

My Husband and I run a Supper Club from our home and with our combined talents (he’s a Executive head Chef) we have some fun with the food and styling. Supper Clubs or sometime called underground restaurants have really taken off in the last 12 months with people still really wanting to eat out but have less income in the current climate to go for the fine dining expensive meals. Lots of supper clubs provide entertainment along side the food but I think you’ll agree this is the entertainment…and possibly deserves a place in my design blog!

Mini Coconuts filled with home made coconut ice cream, Pina Colada and home made coconut bars

I designed these mainly with small desserts in mind but they can be used for any cold bowl food or miniature plates.

There is something I love about smooth white materials mixed with rougher rustic ones!

He has used stunning Panton chairs against the grey exposed brickwork. Perfect combo.

This is a similar look. The stunning range above is a few pieces designed by Bich and family at http://www.nomliving.com/ and then produced by her craftsmen in Cambodia. Every piece is loving thought out and designed to have a great feel when eaten from it. In this photo I have placed three of her designs on a simple white high gloss lacquer tray to add the different textures, again Grey and white!

These photos also remind me of the very ‘on trend’ Nordic style that has made its way over here. We have become increasingly familiar with the gorgeous danish and Swedish / Scandinavian designs that have been knocking on our doors for the last 15 years and now in fact you can’t miss it. It’s everywhere and rightly so as they get it right every time, with the simple but stylish designs. But this year we will see  more of the Nordic / Icelandic touches. You can imagine grey and white deep pile sheepskin rugs just in time for spring added to these photo’s. Fresh but warm and of course stylish. We usually see interior design follow fashion then of course the food usually follows suit too. The small plates would work so well with a simple fresh fish served cold with some lightly pickled vegetables and delicate micro herbs to complete the look. …I’m a sucker for grey so bring it on in fashion and interiors I say.

Chinese news paper cones in curly bamboo

Ok so we are jumping the gun. We haven’t even had Christmas yet but in this industry you have to be one step ahead with your ideas and move on the the next..

I tried to give this one the feel of an oriental zen garden

Flocking

Aquamarine flocked plate

Flocking…Careful!! is my new favourite. Here it has transformed a tired old plate to a great talking point. It wouldn’t work well with food placed directly on to it so I got around that by adding a thin sheet of acrylic to the top. It is becoming so fashionable, now you have seen it once you will spot it everywhere. From coat hangers to picture frames to whole light fittings. It’s rich velvety feel makes it so tactile and can be matched with any pantone. I’ve added peacock feathers for an added richness.
